About Debt Collector Map: Sources and Contact

Debt Collector Map is a free, plain-English guide for people contacted or sued by debt collectors in every US state: your federal rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Regulation F, your state's extra protections, the time limit to sue on old debts, wage garnishment and property exemptions, collector licensing, where to complain and what to do if you are sued. We also offer free tools: an “Is my debt too old?” checker, a debt dispute (validation) letter and a stop-contact letter.

We are not a law firm, not a debt collector, not a debt relief or credit repair company, and not a government agency. We don't represent anyone and we never contact collectors for you. We link to official sources: state statutes, state agencies and courts, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
